My brother-in-law took me surfing here. He’s a surf instructor in Maui. I’m a glass designer in Ohio.

My legs shook with every step. I’ve surfed in the South Pacific, but I was also able to see sea turtles in the crystal clear water.

The paddle out was about 200 feet, but I only made it 100 feet from shore before telling him it was too rich for my blood.

I watched him surf for two hours before he paddled back in and high fived me. “Didn’t even think you’d make it out that far. It was kind of steep and sketchy. It’s good to know your limits.”

I’m cool with that.
